Not to bag on the cute mother-son thing those two have going on but blahhhhhh. Mothers really need Kelloggs to leave space on a sack-lunch treat because they don’t know how to write notes? And does a twelve year old really want a note from his mum splayed over his lunch? Any kid attending my school with ‘I Love You, Son’ on his Rice Krispie Treat would have gotten a beat down for being a bleeper and for eating something with such a cute name. Maybe I totally have the wrong end of the stick here. Maybe American kids in the 21st century don’t sit around saying things like ‘My Dads Stronger Than Your Dad’, rather ‘My Mom Loves Me More Than Your Mom Loves You’. Maybe I’m just uncomfortable with love-tokens taking the form of sticky puffed rice, but I’d rather have dads ripping up phone books in school yards than have kids subconsciously thinking that Kelloggs sponsors Their Mom’s Love (thus when they get to college and get dumped for the first time, become bulimic, and seek comfort food, they’ll start buying Rice Krispie treats in bulk – single-handedly keeping Kelloggs in the black). I’m on to you, Kellogg’s.

I can’t decide whether that baby is crazy from gossip, or from having cell-phone signals beaming through it’s brain. Either way I’m not smashing a cell phone into Julian’s face no matter how much I’m dying to ask him if he could recommend a good hairdresser/catch up on the latest.

Netflix thinks I’d give Krush Groove 3.5 stars though, so maybe I’ll give it a shot. Might give me something bonding to talk over with the neighbors.

Since then he has discovered both feet and one ear.

He had his 16 week injections recently. He did not like it, but he didn’t freak out as bad as he did at eight weeks. He even looked the nurse in the eye and said Thank You afterwards. I know people stress out about vaccinating their children, but I’m not one of them. Pharmaceutical companies are disgusting and I’m the first to want to punch them in the face for having financial and political agendas, but I also think that neanderthal babies probably died off from preventable diseases and I believe in things like pathogens and T-helper cells and antibodies and immune systems, so Julian gets the injections.

Julian’s been a gem really. Some people purport that babies who are moved around a lot etc become flexible people,  but the kinds of people who say that are probably also the kinds of people who wait to see what kind of adult the baby becomes before making claims about causal relationships between a kids upbringing and and subsequent nature. I think babies like routines and I’m pleased Julian can finally get one. He sleeps pretty good. I was in no Modern American rush to shove my baby into a crib to deal with being alone at night, but Julian got bedtime pretty figured out on his own, and generally sleeps through the night, waking only to eat. He first started doing this about a month and a half ago. It was pretty funny when he learned that dark=sleep. He’d wake up to eat or just wake up, but he’d keep his eyes shut. Like he knew he was meant to be sleeping but he couldn’t. It was funny to see him lying there gurgling, smiling, and waving his arms around with his eyes tightly closed. It’s much funnier to me now that I’m getting more than 2 hours of sleep at a time though.
